Gallery Opening Being Held For Joseph Opshinsky

Artist Joseph Opshinsky, a University of the Arts and Keystone College graduate, is now displaying his work at Penn State Wilkes-Barre's Friedman Art Gallery. Showing pieces publicly since 2004, Opshinsky has been awarded serveal honors in recent years. Joseph's ten pieces displayed in paper media interpret the environs in and around his hometown of Scranton.

Student Government Association Holds Annual Haunted Forest For THON

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre Student Government Association (SGA) will once again be holding their Annual Haunted Forest Fundraiser for Children with Pediatric Cancer at the Hershey Medical Center. Since the Haunted Forest's inception in 1998, the Penn State Wilkes-Barre SGA, through events such as the Haunted Forest, Canning Weekends, Basket Raffles, and Dodgeball Tournaments, has raised over $100,000 for the 4 Diamonds Fund.

Alumni Society Announces Upcoming Events

On Friday, October 11th, the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Alumni Constituent Society and Penn State Wilkes-Barre students are offering a bus trip to University Park to walk in the annual Homecoming Parade. The bus will depart from the Penn State Wilkes-Barre gym parking lot at 1 p.m., returning to campus around midnight. All ages are invited to attend to show their Penn State pride! The trip costs $15 per person and includes bus transportation, t-shirt, and dinner. Seating is limited and a sellout is expected.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre Soccer Ties With Beaver

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre soccer team played Penn State Beaver on Saturday afternoon, ending in a tie game 1-1 after two overtimes. Wilkes-Barre's goal was scored by freshman Cody Franssen. Wilkes-Barre plays again at home on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre Soccer Defeats Mont Alto

Penn State Wilkes-Barre soccer team won their match against Penn State Mont Alto on Sunday afternoon with a final score of 5-2. Sophomore Mark Bugelholl put in 4 goals, having a terrific game. Sophomore David Cavalieri added another goal as well. Wilkes-Barre plays their final game of the regular season at Penn College on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. With the win Wilkes-Barre improves to 7-2-1 overall and 6-2-1 in PSUAC.

Women's Volleyball Falls to Hazleton

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women's volleyball team (1-6) lost their match against Penn State Hazleton with a final score of 3-0 on Tuesday night. The Lady Mountain Lions next play at Penn State Mont Alto on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

Golf Finishes Third at Hazleton Match

Penn State Wilkes-Barre traveled to Penn State Hazleton for the PSUAC Hazleton match on Thursday. The Mountain Lions finished third overall out of eight PSUAC schools. Senior Matt Boozer (New Bethlehem, PA) finished the day with a 79, while freshman Jeff Carter (Dallas, PA) and sophomore Rob Reilly (Wilkes-Barre, PA) each shot an 89. Freshman Michael Stelacone (Lothian, MD) shot a 92 and freshman Matt Kocher (Hanover Township, PA) finished with a 101.

Golf Finishes Fourth at Home Match

Penn State Wilkes-Barre hosted the PSUAC Invitational (Dallas, PA) on Thursday at Irem Temple Golf Course. The Mountain Lions finished fourth overall out of six PSUAC schools. Freshman Jeff Carter (Dallas, PA) finished the day with a score of 85. Senior Matt Boozer (New Bethlehem, PA) finished with a 94, freshman Matt Kocher (Hanover Township, PA) finished with a 94, sophomore Billy Gray (Harding, PA) finished with a 105, and freshman Mike Mulea (Dallas, PA) finished with a 115.

Wilkes-Barre Wins Over Hazleton

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre soccer team won their home match against Penn State Hazleton on Friday afternoon with a final score of 2-1. Goals were scored by sophomore Mark Bugelholl (West Pittston, PA) and junior Denzel Mensah (South Plainfield, PA). Wilkes-Barre soccer improves their record to 6-2 overall and 5-2 in the PSUAC. Wilkes-Barre next plays Penn State Beaver at home on Saturday, October 5 at 1:00 pm.
