The term “veteran” refers to an individual who:
- Has served in the United States Armed Forces, including a reserve component or the National Guard, and
- Was discharged or released from such service with a condition other than dishonorable.

What You Need to Apply
As an actively serving member of the armed services or a veteran, you are classified as an adult learner at Penn State. Military/veteran students do not have any additional admissions requirements they need to fulfill other than the requirements for their applicant type (first-year, transfer, etc.).

- High school transcript (if applicable)
- College transcripts (if applicable)
- Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from the VA
- Joint Services Transcript (JST)
Military Transcripts
Penn State does not require military transcripts as part of the application evaluation, but if accepted, applicants may receive Penn State credit for work reflected on these transcripts. For this reason, we highly recommend that you submit your military transcript for credit evaluation. Review the documents that Penn State requires in order to award Credit from Military Experience.
