Campus Closure Transition Resources for Students

The University remains steadfast in its commitment to our students and to their experience and success at Penn State. Please be aware that:
  • Every student who begins a degree at Penn State Wilkes-Barre will have the opportunity to complete their degree at Penn State.
  • Every Penn State Wilkes-Barre student will receive personalized guidance and advising so that they clearly understand degree completion options, timelines, and pathways to other Penn State campuses, including online options through Penn State World Campus.
  • Because of the two-year period until the Wilkes-Barre campus closes, all of our current and admitted students will have the chance to complete associate degree coursework here.
  • Bachelor’s degree students can continue here at Penn State Wilkes-Barre through the 2026-27 academic year. Depending on the number of credits needed, those students may be able to complete their degrees here or transition to another campus.
In the near future you will be contacted by a Navigation Coach who can help to answer your questions and connect you with University resources, including support staff and academic and financial advisers. You will also receive information about how and where to reach out for assistance when you need it. Your support team will help you create individual academic, financial and graduation plans; guide you through available support options; and assist in reaching your educational objectives. Please watch your Penn State email closely in the days to come for additional important information.

In the meantime, the University has created a website to help you begin to find answers to your questions. See the general FAQs on the Commonwealth Campuses Future page as well as student-specific FAQs on the Our Students page.

The University’s top priority is the safety and well-being of community. If you need assistance, please reach out to one of the following resources:

  • The Student Care and Advocacy team can work with students who encounter challenges or concerns in achieving success at Penn State.
