Hannah Farber, who recently completed her second year at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, has been selected to participate in the Multi-Campus Research Experience for Undergraduates (MC REU) program. The program will allow Farber to conduct research in conjunction with a faculty member from her home campus of Penn State Wilkes-Barre and one based at University Park.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre held its 33rd annual Celebration of Academic Excellence on April 28 to recognize students who have excelled in their academic endeavors throughout the year.

Sustainability is a top goal in Penn State Wilkes-Barre’s strategic plan, and the campus Sustainability Council is helping share knowledge and plan activities to meet that goal.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre held its spring 2022 commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 7, in the campus’ Athletic and Recreation Building. Degrees were conferred to graduates in a ceremony attended by families, friends and supporters of the campus.

A student at Penn State Wilkes-Barre had the opportunity to present research along with several faculty members at a national conference in March.

Brad Killian, a 2022 graduate of Penn State Wilkes-Barre, received an award honoring him as an adult learner during a virtual ceremony on April 21.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre has announced the winners of the 2022 Celebration of Scholarship, an annual competition that promotes and encourages undergraduate research. The event allows faculty and students at the campus to present their current research, scholarship and artistic endeavors.

Will Beekman, general manager at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre and a member of the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Advisory Board, has been named as commencement speaker for the Class of 2022, Interim Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer Lynda Goldstein announced. Commencement will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 7, in the Athletic & Recreation Building.

Yuri Pelepko-Filak, who recently took a managerial position at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center, credits his nursing management certificate from Penn State Wilkes-Barre with preparing him for his new role. Pelepko-Filak earned a promotion shortly after completing the certificate program.

A gift from father and son Robert Tambur and Robert Tamburro will create the first program endowment to help fund Penn State Wilkes-Barre’s IDEA Hub, which supports innovation and entrepreneurship in northeastern Pennsylvania.
