On Sept. 9, Penn State Wilkes-Barre took part in the Penn State University Athletic Conference Invitational at University Park. The team came in fourth place with an overall score of 349. Cooper Kelley, a first-year student at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, tied for second place with a score of 72.

A Penn State Wilkes-Barre alumnus has created a named space on campus in memory of his late wife. In recognition of a $10,000 gift made by Mark Sobeck, 1976, Room 119F in the Athletic and Recreation Building will be named in remembrance of his wife, Deborah, who died on May 5, 2020.
The surveying engineering program at Penn State Wilkes-Barre has been re-accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology), signifying the program’s high standards and commitment to quality education.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre released vaccination rates as of Sept. 8 for students and employees at the campus. At Penn State Wilkes-Barre, 87% of full-time employees indicated they are fully vaccinated, including 100% of administrators, 89% of academic personnel (instructors, researchers and faculty) and 86% of nonunion staff.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre’s Athletic and Recreation Building (ARB) will reopen to members of the community on Tuesday, Sept. 7. The ARB has been closed to the public since March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Penn State students, faculty and staff who are not vaccinated for COVID-19 and those who have not shared with the University that they are fully vaccinated will be required to test weekly for COVID-19 throughout the fall semester, or until they share with the University that they have been fully vaccinated.
