All students at Penn State Wilkes-Barre are members of the Student Government Association (SGA), the organization that represents students’ interests both here on campus and to the University as a whole. We encourage everyone to attend the weekly SGA meetings.
The SGA serves as the sole legislative student body in all matters pertaining to the welfare and best interest of the students of Penn State Wilkes-Barre. The SGA provides and coordinates appropriate services for the students and serves as a forum for the exchange of ideas among members of the student body.
SGA appointees also attend monthly meetings of the Council of Commonwealth Student Governments (CCSG) at the University Park campus. Here they represent the Penn State Wilkes-Barre student body while sitting on various university-wide committees.
In addition to accurately communicating student concerns to the administration, the SGA has the following responsibilities:
- It allocates associated student funds to represented clubs and organizations.
- It coordinates the activities of all represented campus clubs and organizations.
- It represents the campus at student conferences.
Students in good academic and social standing are eligible for election for office in the SGA. Positions include President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Public Relations, Webmaster, Senators, and Club Representatives.
