Penn State Wilkes-Barre offers numerous opportunities for students to develop their leadership skills.
Lessons on Leadership
Lessons on Leadership (LOL) is an eight-part leadership development series offered to any interested student at Penn State Wilkes-Barre. Eight total workshops are offered, four each in the fall and spring semesters. The workshops focus on a variety of leadership-building skills: leadership styles, communication styles, conflict management, servant leadership, and more. To sign up just email the Student Activities Office with "LOL" as the subject.
Intercollegiate Leadership Wilkes-Barre
Each academic year, students from the areas local colleges/universities are chosen to participate in this program sponsored by Leadership Wilkes-Barre. Its goal is to strengthen and enhance leadership skills in our future leaders of tomorrow while developing open lines of communication between the areas local colleges/universities.
University-wide Student Leadership Conference
Prior to the fall semester, students from each of the University’s campuses gather for an intensive three-day skills training, team building, and leadership development conference held at various locations around the state.
Orientation, Open House, and Event Leaders
Students are called upon to represent Penn State Wilkes-Barre at a variety of events throughout the academic year. These include but are not limited to New Student Orientation, Penn State Wilkes-Barre Open House, Housing Day, career fairs, etc.
Online Workshops
Penn State offers some online experiences through our EDGE website. You can gain an additional competitive “edge” in today’s workplace by participating in these self-paced workshops. Each of these online workshops should take about an hour to complete. Some workshops require that you log in to enroll. All workshops are offered free of charge to Penn State students.
