Director of Athletics Stanchak Announces Departure From Penn State Wilke-Barre

Director of Athletics and Recreation, Brian D. Stanchak, has announced that he will be leaving Penn State University, Wilkes-Barre at the end of February of this year. His resignation will be effective February 28th. The athletic department and programs have achieved a high level of growth and success on the court/field and within the classroom during his four years leading the department. Following his departure, Stanchak will focus on his multi-divisional company, BDS Search, LLC, which includes a successful basketball coach management and marketing agency.

Men's Basketball Defeats Penn State Worthington Scranton

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre men's basketball team won their home game vs. Penn State Worthington Scranton 78-70 on Friday night. After trailing 5-0 in the first minute of the first half, Wilkes-Barre never stopped scoring; in fact they didn't trail for the rest of the game. Wilkes-Barre was led in scoring by Austin Walker's 20 points. Anthony Kaiser also contributed to the win with his numerous 3 pointers, which always seemed to energize the team.

Women's Basketball Falls to Penn State Worthington Scranton

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women's basketball team lost their home game to Penn State Worthington Scranton 57-51 on Friday night. The team started off strong, leading the entire first half and a majority of the second half. However, Scranton moved ahead with seven minutes left to play. Wilkes-Barre came roaring back with less than 50 seconds left in the second half when Katelyn McLaughlin shot a go-ahead three. Scranton then tied it up to push it into overtime.

Denzel Mensah Scores 1000th Career Point vs. Penn State DuBois

On Saturday afternoon during the second half of the game, the crowd that filled the ARB witnessed a special moment. Denzel Mensah, a forward on the men's basketball team, scored the1000th point of his inter-collegiate athletic career. The 6'3" senior from South Plainfield, NJ scored 24 points in the game to help his team get the victory.

Men's Basketball Gets Road Win vs. PSU Hazleton

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre men's basketball team won their away game vs. Penn State Hazleton 89-55 on Monday afternoon. With the win, the team improved to 8-9 overall and tied for third in PSUAC with a record of 5-3. They have now won three straight games. Wilkes-Barre was led by Emmanuel Young's 19 points, while Austin Walker added 13 points. The team shot 54% from the field and had six players in double digits.

Women's Basketball Stumbles vs. Penn State Hazleton

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women's basketball team lost their away game vs. Penn State Hazleton 57-64 on Monday afternoon. The team fought back to push the game into overtime, but fell short against the 13-2 Penn State Hazleton Lady Lions. With the loss, the team falls to 6-8 overall and 3-5 in the PSUAC. Wilkes-Barre was led by Brenna Moore's 17 points, while Jacqueline Rabender added 13 points.

Women's Basketball Gets Home Win vs. Penn State DuBois

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women's basketball team won their home game vs. Penn State DuBois 48- 41 on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the team improved to 5-7 overall (2-4 PSAUC), and have now won two straight games. Wilkes-Barre was led by Breana Moore's 12 points, while Sierra McLaughlin added 11 points. The team will next play against Penn State Worthington Scranton at home next Friday, January 24th at 6pm.

Men's Basketball Gets Home Win vs Penn State DuBois

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre men's basketball team won their home game vs. Penn State DuBois 82-65 on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the team improved to 7-9 overall and 4-3 in the PSUAC. Wilkes-Barre was led by Denzel Mensah's 24 points, while Emmanuel Young added 21 points. During the game, Mensah was honored after he scored his 1,000th point. The team will next play at Penn State Hazleton on Monday, January 19th at 4pm.

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women's basketball team won their away game at Penn State Schuylkill 45-42 on Thursday night. With the win, the team won their first PSUAC game and improved to 4-7 overall and 1-4 in the PSUAC. Wilkes-Barre was led by Breana Moore's 14 points, while Katelyn McLaughlin added 13 points. Wilkes-Barre will look to capitalize on this victory by beating Penn State DuBois at home on Saturday January 17th at 1pm.
