Beginning January 9th, Penn State Wilkes-Barre will begin hosting two seven-week SAT preparation course sessions for those students interested in taking the SAT exam for the 2016 dates. Penn State Wilkes-Barre, in cooperation with Cambridge Educational Services, Inc., offers high school students an opportunity to raise their score on the SAT, and instructs students in proven test-taking strategies to help them realize their full potential on the test.
Penn-State Wilkes-Barre athletics found great success during the fall season as six student-athletes received All-Conference honors. Junior Jeff Carter (Dallas, PA) and freshman Tim Walters (Forty Fort, PA) were named to the PSUAC All-Conference Golf team. The Women's Volleyball program also landed two athletes in All-Conference spots. Sophomores Brittany Acevedo and Khali Kotulski, both from Harvey's Lake, were given All-Conference Honorable Mentions.
On Saturday, October 24th, Penn State Wilkes-Barre will be holding the second annual Zombie 5K run/walk benefiting.
The Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, affectionately known as THON, is the largest student run philanthropy in the world. THON, a yearlong effort to raise funds and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer, has raised more than $127 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital since 1977. THON 2016 will take place from February 19th - 21st, 2016 at Penn State's Bryce Jordan Center.

Many people encounter salamanders in Pennsylvania, but only the lucky few have the chance to see lizards. There are only four native species of lizards in Pennsylvania. One of these is the eastern fence lizard, Sceloporus undulatus. Dr. Renee Rosier, assistant professor of biology, uses these lizards to research behavioral development and the consequences of early-life environments on growth, survival, and reproduction.
Beginning in September running through November, Penn State Wilkes-Barre's Continuing Education Department will be offering four Workforce Development Courses: Spanish in the Workplace, Public Speaking, Fundamentals of Project Management and Excellence in Customer Service.
