As unmanned aerial systems, or drones, become more popular, Penn State is reminding all drone operators of regulations and guidelines governing their flights for all University-related drone operations on and off Penn State’s campuses.
Penn State alumni representing four northeast regional campuses — Hazleton, Schuylkill, Wilkes-Barre and Worthington Scranton — will be offering “A Night of Penn State Jazz” on Oct. 26 at the F.M. Kirby Center in Wilkes-Barre. The concert, featuring Penn State’s Centre Dimensions jazz ensemble, will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre was one of six teams from various local organizations to participate in the recent 2017 Wilkes-Barre Dragon Boat Races -- a 200-yard water dash between downtown Wilkes-Barre’s two bridges over the Susquehanna River.
Penn State Hazleton, Penn State Wilkes-Barre and Penn State Worthington Scranton will host a special outreach event on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at the AAA National Championship Baseball Game taking place at PNC Field on Montage Mountain. The event, which is aimed at growing brand awareness and showcasing the impact Penn State makes on Northeast Pennsylvania, will also serve as a fundraiser for THON.
“Getting To Know Us,” an art exhibit featuring works from campus faculty and staff, will be on display beginning Sept. 12 through mid-October, in the Friedman Art Gallery at Penn State Wilkes-Barre. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
The National Science Foundation has joined in supporting Penn State’s goal of taking more of its discoveries to market by awarding Penn State a five-year, $500,000 Innovation Corps (I-Corps) grant to establish the Invent Penn State I-Corps Site in collaboration with Ben Franklin Technology Partner’s TechCelerator, Happy Valley LaunchBox, and Invent Penn State’s Innovation Hubs.
Penn State is once again named among the top 25 schools in the nation in the 2017 Campus Pride Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning-Friendly Campus Climate Index.
Faculty and staff from across Penn State came together Aug. 15-16 at University Park in support of entrepreneurship teaching and learning at the fifth annual ENTI Summer Gathering. ENTI, launched is 2013, is Penn State’s Intercollege Minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
Andrew Belser, 2017-18 Penn State laureate, will kick off the tour of his award-winning “FaceAge” exhibition, a multimedia video installation created from cross-generational conversations, Aug. 30 to Sept. 5 at University Park. Throughout the 2017-18 academic year, Belser will take “FaceAge” to all Penn State campuses.
Beginning Oct. 7, Penn State Wilkes-Barre will begin hosting its last seven-week, SAT-preparation course session for those students interested in taking the SAT exam for the December 2017 testing date.
