Advisory Board Member Receives Volunteer Award

Penn State Wilkes-Barre Advisory Board Member and Penn State Architectural Engineering graduate Jonathan Dougherty has been named the 2014 recipient of the Penn State Alumni Association's (PSAA) Kay and Ernie Salvino Volunteer of the Year Award. The award recognizes an individual who has provided exemplary service to the PSAA. At Penn State Wilkes-Barre, Dougherty has been an advisory board member since 2004. He also serves as an alumni mentor and guest lecturer, and was the 2013 commencement speaker. 

PSU WB Women's Basketball vs. Bryn Athyn College

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women's basketball team (2-2) lost their second straight game to Bryn Athyn College, with a final score of 60-69. The Lady Mountain Lions were led by Jackie Rabender, who scored 14 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, and got 2 steals. Simone Person coming off the bench grabbed 10 rebounds, 3 of which were offensive rebounds. The Lady Mountain Lions will play their next game Friday November 21st at Davis.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre Women's Basketball vs. Centenary College

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women's basketball team (2-1) lost their first game of the season to Centenary College, with a final score of 30-70. The Lady Mountain Lions were led by Breana Moore, with 12 points and 4 rebounds. Katie McLaughlin added 6 points, 6 rebounds, a steal, and a blocked shot. The Lady Mountain Lions' next game is Sunday, November 16th against Bryn Athyn College at Centenary College.

PSU-WB Women's Basketball vs. Luzerne County Community College

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women's basketball team (2-0) won their second game of season and first road game against Luzerne County Community College, with a final score of 69-42. The Lady Lions were led by Katie McLaughlin, who scored 17 points and drained 3 threes. Jackie Rabender scored 16 points in the game, 12 of which were in the second half. The Lady Mountain Lions' next game is November 15th at Centenary College.

Men's Basketball Drops First Home Game of the Season

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre men's basketball team (2-1 overall) lost their first game of the season, with a 93-66 loss to Central Penn (see the game statistics). This was the home opener for the Mountain Lions. Wilkes-Barre was led by Denzel Mensah's 16 points, while James Cottrell added 15 points. Wilkes-Barre will look to rebound at Luzerne County Community College on Thursday, November 13th at 8pm.
