Women's Basketball Wins at Worthington Scranton

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women's basketball team defeated PSUAC rival Penn State Worthington Scranton 65-48 Wednesday night on the road. With the win, Wilkes-Barre improves to 5-10 overall and 3-4 in the PSUAC. Sophomore Michele Vowler led Wilkes-Barre with 18 points and 5 steals. Sophomore Tiaira Brathwaite scored 11 points, while junior Catherine Beach and sophomore Molly Dincher each added 9 points for Wilkes-Barre. Wilkes-Barre will next play at home against PSUAC rival Greater Allegheny, Friday night, January 27, at 6:00 pm. 

Men's Basketball Falls Short at Worthington Scranton

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre men's basketball team lost at PSUAC rival Penn State Worthington Scranton 65-69 on Wednesday night.  With the loss, Wilkes-Barre falls to 6-9 overall and 4-4 in the PSUAC. Freshman guard Drew Walker led Wilkes-Barre with 14 points. Freshman William Danwah scored 12 points and senior Matt Clemons added 11 points for Wilkes-Barre. Wilkes-Barre will next play at home against PSUAC rival Greater Allegheny, Friday night, January 27, at 8:00 pm.

Abby Collins Named To SAAB

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre athletic department has named junior Abby Collins (women's volleyball) to the Student-Athlete Advisory Board.  Collins joins Alex Leandri (women's cross country), Keith Moran (men's soccer), and Frank Peters (men's basketball) on the board.  They will be tasked with finding initiatives to increase student, faculty, and staff participation at athletic events and enhancing the perception of athletics on campus.

Women's Basketball Wins at Home

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women's basketball team (4-10 overall, 2-4 PSUAC) defeated Luzerne County Community College, 65-61, Monday night at home. Sophomore Tiaira Brathwaite led the way for the Mountain Lions by scoring 18 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Sophomore Tiffany Denny added 12 points and 7 rebounds, while fellow sophomore Michele Vowler contributed 11 points and 8 rebounds. Wilkes-Barre will next play Wednesday night, January 25 at 6:00 pm, on the road against PSUAC rival Penn State Worthington Scranton.

Men's Basketball Fights Hard to Defeat Penn State DuBois

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre men's basketball team fought hard at home to defeat PSUAC rival Penn State DuBois 53-52 Friday night. The win improves Wilkes-Barre to 6-8 on the season and 4-3 in the PSUAC. Wilkes-Barre was led by freshman Drew Walker with 14 points. Sophomore Keith Johnson added 10 points for the Mountain Lions, while senior Matt Clemons added in 8 points.  Wilkes-Barre will next play Wednesday night, January 25 at 8:00 pm on the road against Penn State Worthington Scranton.

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women's basketball team fell short of a win (64-67) against PSUAC rival Penn State DuBois, Friday night at home. The loss drops Wilkes-Barre to 3-10 on the season and 2-4 in the PSUAC. Junior Catherine Beach and sophomores Michele Vowler and Tiara Brathwaite led Wilkes-Barre with 14 points each. Freshman Aubrey Wargowsky added 10 points for the Mountain Lions. Wilkes-Barre will next play at 6:00 pm on Monday night, January 23, at home against Luzerne County Community College.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre Turns Day Off Into "Day On"

Penn State Wilkes-Barre students may have had a day off from classes on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, but for a group of students, faculty, and staff from Penn State northeast regional campuses, the day off became a day "on." On Monday, January 16th, a group of Penn State Wilkes-Barre students and staff traveled to Penn State Schuylkill for the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day "ON" Community Service Event.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre Honor Society Students Give2TheTroops

Members of the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Honor Society have completed their second drive for troops serving overseas. The local honor students recently delivered nearly a thousand pounds of goods ranging from personal grooming products to microwave popcorn, instant hot chocolate, powdered drinks, stationery and envelopes and other items to Give2TheTroops in Fairfield, Connecticut. The most recent delivery was assisted by a collection drive at the Lake Lehman Elementary School under the direction of Mrs. Doreen Johnson.

Women's Basketball Wins Against PSUAC Rival Penn State Hazleton

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women's basketball team improved to 3-9 on the season and 2-3 in the PSUAC with a win at home Wednesday night over PSUAC rival Penn State Hazleton. Down 13-16 at half time, Wilkes-Barre battled back to take a 45-41 victory over Hazleton. Sophomore Tiaira Braithwaite led Wilkes-Barre with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore Michele Vowler added in 11 points and freshmen Aubrey Wargowsky scored 8 points. Wilkes-Barre will next play Friday night January 20th at home against Penn State DuBois.
