A Penn State Access Account (often referred to as an “Access ID”) is a personal, digital identity and unique identifier assigned to you. Your Access ID consists of three letters followed by a series of three or four numbers, and your Penn State email address consists of your Access ID plus “@psu.edu” (for example, “[email protected]”).
You’ll use your Access ID and password to log in to Penn State computing and online resources such as lab computers, Penn State’s wireless network, and various Penn state websites and systems to which you have been granted access.
You can change your Access Account password at accounts.psu.edu. Remember, never share your password with anyone! Penn State will never ask you for your password, over the phone or in an email.
Please use technology wisely. You are responsible for your Access Account and will be held accountable for any problems associated with its use. Individuals are expected to exercise responsible, ethical behavior when using the University's computers, information, networks, or resources.

Getting an Access Account
Students
When you apply for admission online, you’re either prompted to create an Access Account, or an account is automatically created for you as part of the application process. That Access ID is yours throughout your time at Penn State.
Faculty and Staff
When you accept an offer of employment and your hiring paperwork is submitted by Human Resources, an Access Account is automatically created for you.
If you have provided an alternate email address, an Electronic Account Activation email will be sent to that address. You should follow the instructions in the email to activate and create a password for your Penn State Access Account. If no alternate email address is available, or if there are problems activating the account, you should contact the Penn State IT Service Desk at 814-865-4357 or email [email protected].
