Mission Statement
To create a welcoming, non-judgmental, and confidential space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, asexual, etc. (LGBTQ+) and straight ally students, faculty, and staff of all ages, races, colors, national origins, disabilities, sexes, genders, religious affiliations, backgrounds and interests at Penn State Wilkes-Barre.
We strive to create an engaging and safe space for our campus’s LGBTQ+ community and work to eliminate homophobia and heterosexism on campus so that LGBTQ+ students, faculty, and staff and their allies have equality in every respect and are included in all areas of the Penn State community.
We promote and host meetings, trainings, and events to bring together our students, faculty and staff, campuses across the commonwealth, and Northeastern PA's LGBTQ+ community, with the intent to make the community aware of opportunities, and to educate and to cultivate a more accepting attitude on campus and in our local region. We do this by partnering with Penn State’s Coalition on Sexual Orientation & Gender Identity (CSOGI), Penn State’s Commission on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Equity (CLGBTQE), the Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity (CSGD) at University Park, the Northeastern PA Rainbow Alliance, and others.
