A new mobile Penn State id+ card is anticipated to launch in January 2023, allowing students to use their mobile devices to conveniently, safely and securely access campus housing facilities, purchase meals, and more.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre will offer several events during Global Entrepreneurship Week, held this year from November 14-18. Global Entrepreneurship Week connects community members and aspiring entrepreneurs with Penn State’s vibrant ecosystem of investors, researchers and startup champions. GEW Penn State will host presentations, workshops and networking opportunities geared specifically to entrepreneurs, local startups and innovators throughout the state. The events are free and open to the public.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre welcomed newly appointed Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer Lynda Goldstein during a special event held in downtown Wilkes-Barre on Oct. 18. The event, held at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts, also highlighted the campus’ presence in the Wyoming Valley since 1916.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre partnered with several other campuses to help potential entrepreneurs in the community test the viability of their ideas. The Northeast Region Idea TestLab, offered through the Wilkes-Barre, Hazleton and Lehigh Valley campuses, brought together a group of people in all phases of entrepreneurship to provide expert and peer support feedback for their ideas.
Velvet Brown, 2022-23 Penn State Laureate, will visit Penn State Wilkes-Barre for a live performance at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25. The presentation will be held in Room 105 of Hayfield House and is free and open to the public along with the campus community.
The annual Arts at Hayfield Homespun Holiday Craft Show will be held on Sunday, Nov. 6, in the Athletic and Recreation Building at Penn State Wilkes-Barre.
Current Penn State id+ cardholders at Penn State Wilkes-Barre will receive a new id+ card during a re-carding event on Monday, Dec. 5. New id+ cards will be distributed from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 5 in the Student Union Building's Multi-Purpose Room. To participate, new photos must be submitted by Nov. 4.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre recently hosted a panel discussion titled “Women in Law Enforcement: Women’s Success and Challenges in Navigating Non-Traditional Roles.” The event, held in person and also livestreamed, featured three women who work in law enforcement sharing their experiences.
"A Greater Penn State for 21st Century Excellence" concluded on June 30, raising more than $2.2 billion for the three key imperatives of a modern land-grant institution: opening the doors of higher education to students from every background; creating transformative experiences for both students and citizens; and impacting the larger world through research, outreach and service. While the nearly $844.5 million raised for the last imperative advanced a wide range of priorities across the University, the campaign focused attention on three opportunities for impact: economic development, resource security, and human health.
