Congratulations to these girls and the whole Penn State Wilkes-Barre volleyball team on a great season!
Penn State Wilkes-Barre freshman Alex Leandri (Mechanicsburg, PA) won the PSUAC women's cross country individual championship on Saturday at Penn State Fayette. Leandri finished with a time of 23:15 in the very tough 5k race. This was the first PSUAC cross-country title in Penn State Wilkes-Barre history. Leandri swept the conference this year, winning all four of her PSUAC races. Leandri will next compete for a USCAA National Championship on November 11th in Lake Placid, NY.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre defeated Penn State Mont Alto 2-0 to finish up the season on a three game winning streak. Wilkes-Barre was led by freshman Mark Bugelholl who scored two goals to add to his team leading six. The Penn State Wilkes-Barre team finished the season 3-6. With a young squad this year's team showed that the future of Penn State Wilkes-Barre soccer is very bright.Â
Congratulations to Meghan Murtagh who was named PSUAC Volleyball Player of the Week. She is the second straight Wilkes-Barre player to win the award (Kellie Yekel won last week). Murtagh had 137 assists in the 5-1 week for the #15 USCAA ranked Penn State Wilkes-Barre.
