DALLAS, Pa. — Students interested in learning more about Penn State Wilkes-Barre, along with their families, are invited to the winter open house set for Feb. 17.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon with registration beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Nesbitt Academic Commons. During the open house, attendees will hear about the bachelor’s and associate degree programs that can be completed at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, as well as the more than 275 academic majors Penn State offers, many of which can be started at Wilkes-Barre and completed at University Park or another campus as part of the 2+2 Plan.
“An open house is an ideal way for high school and transfer students to learn about how Penn State Wilkes-Barre can help them achieve their goals,” said Director of Enrollment Management Janine Becker. “Our campus is close to Dallas and Wilkes-Barre and close to the major cities of New York City and Philadelphia. That means students can attend college in a quiet, rural setting while still having easy access to city life.”
At Penn State Wilkes-Barre, 87% of students receive financial aid. Staff and faculty will be on hand at the open house to talk to interested students.
The campus will also host men’s and women’s basketball games on the same day in the Athletic and Recreation Building. The women’s game will be held at 1 p.m. and the men’s game at 3 p.m. Prospective students and their families are invited to attend the games to support the teams and experience athletics at Penn State Wilkes-Barre.
The application fee is waived with a campus visit. Those planning to attend are asked to register online. Upon registering, participants will receive followup communications with a campus map, directions and additional information. The day’s schedule is subject to change and more information will be forthcoming to registered participants. Students who are unable to attend an open house can schedule a time to visit by contacting the Admissions office at 570-675-9238 or [email protected].
