DALLAS, Pa. — Penn State Wilkes-Barre conferred degrees to graduating students during commencement ceremonies on May 10.
Lynda Goldstein, chancellor and chief academic officer, conferred associate and baccalaureate degrees to the graduates.
“No matter your story, no matter where you took your first class or where you finished your last, we celebrate you both as an individual and as an important part of this community,” Goldstein said. “Today, you officially join over 750,000 Penn State living alumni worldwide — a vibrant and supportive group with whom you have the opportunity to make professional connections for life.”
Junenoire Fonte and Bailey Hayes served as student marshals. Fonte gave the student marshal address and Hayes introduced commencement speaker Joseph Boylan. Boylan is a portfolio director at Throughline, an enterprise design and strategy firm headquartered in Washington, D.C., and a Penn State Wilkes-Barre alumnus.
“Sometimes where we expect or want to be is not where we are, but we continue to push forward on that journey, with the knowledge and vision that one day we will be right where we are supposed to be, so long as the knowledge is a discovery of your passion and vision is the ability to see and believe in yourself,” Boylan told the graduates. “Today marks an incredible milestone in your journey. It’s the end of one chapter, and the start of a new one.”
