DALLAS, Pa. — Penn State Wilkes-Barre is hosting several open house events this fall for prospective students and their families.

Two of the events are open to all prospective students and families. The Penn State Days Open House will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15, and the Fall Open House is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 19. Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. for both events, and each runs from 10 a.m. to noon.

Those attending an open house will learn more about the bachelor’s and associate degree programs that can be completed at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, as well as the more than 275 majors Penn State offers, many of which can be started at Wilkes-Barre and completed at University Park or another campus as part of the 2+2 Plan. During Penn State Days, a drawing will be held for a big prize, with all registered attendees entered in the drawing.

“I encourage all high school juniors and seniors, along with students considering transferring, to visit our scenic campus and learn how Penn State Wilkes-Barre can help them achieve their dreams,” said Director of Enrollment Management Janine Becker. “We provide a cost-effective option for higher education in the Back Mountain, with financial aid available. Our location is close to Dallas and Wilkes-Barre and just two hours from New York City and Philadelphia, providing students with a rural campus setting, yet easy city access.”

Another event has been designed specifically for students interested in studying STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) fields. Exploring STEAM Careers will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, with check-in beginning at 8 a.m. Four sessions with hands-on activities will be offered for high school students to have an opportunity to learn about biology, surveying engineering, information technology, and electrical engineering. Space is limited and lunch will be provided.

To register or to learn more about the open houses, visit Penn State Wilkes-Barre’s admissions page. Students who are unable to attend an open house can schedule a time to visit by contacting the Admissions Office at 570-675-9238 or [email protected].
