In the face of severe financial impacts to the University brought on by the global coronavirus pandemic, on April 23 Penn State President Eric J. Barron announced some salary adjustments; a 3% across-the-board cut to university budgets in the next fiscal year; and his intention to work with the Board of Trustees to freeze tuition for the 2020-21 academic year to limit student costs.

Local high school students exhibited their artwork during the sixth annual High School Art Exhibit at Penn State Wilkes-Barre’s Friedman Art Gallery. The exhibit ran from Dec. 5, 2024 through Jan. 31, 2025.
The Penn State Wilkes-Barre Friedman Art Gallery is hosting a new solo exhibition by the artist Seth D. Ellison entitled “Lost in Paradise.” Seth Ellison is a Philadelphia-based painter and multimedia artist. The exhibit features a variety of his paintings and runs from Sunday, August 18 through Friday, October 25, 2024, and is open to the public on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
