Scholarships

Due to the generosity of alumni and friends of Penn State Wilkes-Barre, we award over 160 scholarships to our students. Approximately 70% of these young men and women are the first generation to attend college, and 75% of whom receive some sort of financial aid.

A unique opportunity: consider purchasing a brick on the Hayfield Pathway to support the Hayfield Pathway Endowed Scholarship. Help pave the way for deserving students to attend Penn State Wilkes-Barre! You can have a brick engraved with your own name, or leave a lasting tribute to a Penn State graduate, a friend, or relative.

For additional information on creating an endowed scholarship or award, please contact Cara Green, Director of Development and Alumni Relations, at (570) 675-9107 or via e-mail at [email protected].

“Many in this area couldn’t afford to attend college without the help given to them in the form of a scholarship. A scholarship doesn’t go to waste. The recipients of scholarships that I saw in class were the ones working hard, applying themselves, getting the good grades.”

— Peter Kennedy, alumnus

“Generous contributors to our scholarship fund: you are making an investment in each and every one of us… We wouldn't have the chance to study and become scholars, we wouldn't have the chance to become well-rounded individuals… We are grateful to you for taking the risk, and investing in our futures.”

— Vern Gernhart, sophomore, Civil Engineering
