Internships can complement a student’s academic career and provide opportunities for career exploration, skill enhancement, and professional networking. Some academic programs require an internship; others do not. But all students are encouraged to explore internship opportunities and gain experience in their chosen field.
For academic programs with required internships
Field experience is a requirement for some academic programs. Students work with the internship supervisor to coordinate internships with Northeast Pennsylvania businesses and organizations. Additionally, The Struthers Family Career Services Center helps prepare students for internships by assisting with utilizing search engines such as Nittany Lion Careers, professional networking sites such as LinkedIn, and best techniques for cover letters, résumés, the application process and interviewing.
For academic programs where internships are not required
The Struthers Family Career Services Center serves as a resource for students wishing to do experiential internships or begin their job search by providing information and assistance for utilizing search engines such as Nittany Lion Careers, professional networking sites such as LinkedIn, and best techniques for cover letters, résumés, the application process and interviewing.
