The public is invited to a new exhibit at Penn State Wilkes-Barre’s Friedman Art Gallery. “Empty and Full: Series & Introduction to Self-Painted Korean Traditional Art Pieces” by artist and doctoral student Tae Hee Kim ("Ajin") is open April 2-30 during regular gallery hours.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre hosted the Northeast Regional Science Olympiad on March 12. The event brought about 650 students from throughout the northeastern Pennsylvania region to campus for the annual middle and high school science competition.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre will host University Laureate Michele Dunleavy for a dance-themed workshop open to the public at no cost on April 7 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre will feature student artwork during the newest exhibit in the campus’ Friedman Art Gallery. The student art exhibit, which opened Feb. 3 and runs through March 31, features artwork by students enrolled in three different Penn State Wilkes-Barre courses.
Local high school students will exhibit their artwork during the sixth annual High School Art Exhibit at Penn State Wilkes-Barre’s Friedman Art Gallery. The exhibit, which is free and open to the public every Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except during holiday breaks, opened Dec. 5 and will run through Jan. 31.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre’s Friedman Art Gallery is preparing to open a new exhibit. “Photography of Protest” by photographer Michael Mirabito will open on Oct. 31 and continue until Dec. 3. The gallery is open on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Pennsylvania-based astrophotographer Tom Wildoner will give a live presentation, "From Novice to Nebula: An Introduction to Astrophotography,” and share a collection of his photographs during Arts at Hayfield’s 38th Annual Summer Arts Festival at Penn State Wilkes-Barre on August 18 from 1-2 p.m.
If you are feeling “board” this summer, check out Penn State Wilkes-Barre's Nesbitt Library on Aug. 1 and 2, Librarians will hold the first of what they say they hope will become an annual board game convention. It is open to all Wilkes-Barre staff, faculty and students and any library employees across the commonwealth, as well as members of the local community, at no cost. Volunteers interested in teaching games are also welcome.
