With a wide variety of opportunities for students entering grades one to 12, Penn State Wilkes-Barre is offering 30 enrichment and five sports camps this summer, which are sure to appeal to every young mind. The camps are designed to engage children and teens to become physically active and creative.
New camps this year include: Radio Controls Camp, Come Code A Game in Scratch, Mobile Ag Ed Science Lab, Put The Metal To The Pedal, and many more.
“The primary goal of our Summer Youth Camps is to provide challenging, educational activities for students of various grade levels,” explained Director of Continuing Education, Jane Ashton. “We are devoted to sparking an interest in science, technology, the arts and healthy sports training. Our unique approach emphasizes creative learning and adventure through projects, field trips, experiments, game-play, and numerous hands-on activities.”
This year, camps will run from June 26 to 30 and July 10 to 14 with a morning session from 9 a.m. to noon, an afternoon session from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., and several full day camps. Select camps are being offered at the discounted price of $100.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre Continuing Education is currently offering a limited number of scholarships for students wishing to attend the campus’ Summer Youth Programs. The scholarships, underwritten by Procter & Gamble’s Live, Learn, and Thrive Program and the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Alumni Constituent Society, help defray the costs of attending the camps at Penn State Wilkes-Barre this summer. The scholarships will cover the cost of the camp tuition and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis for those who qualify.
Procter & Gamble’s Live, Learn, and Thrive is a global initiative offering assistance in more than 60 countries worldwide with a goal of providing physical, social, and educational support for children and adolescents. Similarly, the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Alumni Constituent Society’s mission is to assist area youth for the purpose of improving the academic and cultural experience of the campus enrollment and the University as a whole.
