15th Annual PSU Wilkes-Barre Alumni Golf Tournament Planned

On Friday, July 16, the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Alumni Constituent Society will host its 15th Annual Penn State "Masters" Golf Tournament at Blue Ridge Trail Golf Club in Mountain Top, Pa.

The annual tournament raises money to support the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Alumni Society's Scholarship Fund, the Student Mentor Program, Academic Excellence Awards, and other initiatives which help the students of Penn State Wilkes-Barre. Last year's tournament hosted more than 100 golfers and the tees and greens were sponsored by various community businesses and friends of the campus, raising more than $5000 for student programs at the campus.

This year's winning flight in the "Captain and Crew" style tournament will receive Penn State Wilkes-Barre "Masters" navy blazers complete with 24k gold-plated Penn State buttons. Golfers also have a chance to win several hole-in-one prizes while on the course including a car donated by Ken Pollock Chevrolet, an Orlando Golf Vacation, $500 for Zero Restriction Apparel, and a Sea Mist vacation. Other contests during the day include closest to the pin, longest drive for men and women, and double your money by "holding the green." Various other prizes, including a Joe Paterno signed football and gift certificates donated by local businesses will be raffled.

The day's festivities get underway at 11:30 a.m. with registration and lunch and the tournament begins at 1 p.m. with a "shotgun start." An awards banquet will begin at 6:30 p.m. where tournament and prize winners will be announced.
