Penn State Wilkes-Barre Athletes Receive Honors

Penn State Wilkes-Barre recently recognized the achievements of more than 20 of its student athletes for excellence both on the playing field and in the classroom.

Michael Buczkowski, a member of the men's basketball team, was named to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association's (USCAA) Academic All-American Team.

Ten students were also named to the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) All Conference Team: Michael Haley, golf, first team; Patrick Dillon, golf, first team; Amanda Cooper, cross country, first team; Charles Haney, cross country, first team; Kellie Yekel, women's volleyball, first team; Meghan Murtagh, women's volleyball, honorable mention; Michele Vowler, women's basketball, first team; Khalisha Royal, women's basketball, honorable mention; Frank Peters, men's basketball, first team; John Sanderson, men's basketball, honorable mention.

Additionally, the following students received Academic All Conference Awards: Eric Bogumil, golf; Matthew Boozer, golf; Steven Brennan, golf; Charles Haney, cross country; Eric Agomuo, tennis; Jennifer Naro, tennis; Michelle Urban, tennis; Jason Yu, tennis; Cody Bevan, soccer; Jonathan Casey, soccer; Nikolas Decker, soccer; Nathanael Fiscus, soccer; Charles Haney, soccer; Patrick McSherry, soccer; Daniel Scatena, soccer; Nicolas Velez, soccer; Abigail Collins, women's volleyball; Lindsey Howell, women's volleyball; Meghan Murtagh, women's volleyball; Lauren Owazany, women's volleyball; Jessica Ann Ozmina, women's volleyball; Kianna Spencer, women's volleyball; Michele Vowler, women's volleyball; Kellie Yekel, women's volleyball; Michael Buczkowski, men's basketball; Robert Bisson, baseball; Michael Bretzger, baseball; Kyle Jola, baseball; Peter Kelley, baseball; Ryan Williams, baseball.

Several basketball players also reached milestones in their sport: Jared James, Robert Miner Memorial Award - Defensive Player of the Year; Travis Dunlop, James W. Monk Memorial Award - Most Improved Player; Frank Peters, 500 career points; John Sanderson, 500 career points; Ryan Whitmiller, 500 career points; Frank Peters, 500 career rebounds; John Sanderson, 200 career steals.
