Penn State Wilkes-Barre Introduces Athletic Trainer

For the first time in Penn State Wilkes-Barre's athletic history, a part-time Athletic Trainer has been hired to work with all 9 of its intercollegiate sports teams.  PSU Wilkes-Barre has brought on board experienced Athletic Trainer, Mike Aed, to cover all practices and games, work with student-athletes to prevent injuries, and rehabilitate any student-athletes who may have been injured.  Mike has worked at the collegiate level for many years serving as Head Athletic Trainer at Marywood University (2001-08) and Wilkes University (1976-1992).  In between, Mike was instrumental in building the Athletic Training Services/Sport Medicine program at Wyoming Valley Health Care System.

Director of Athletics Brian Stanchak stated, "We are extremely excited about taking Penn State Wilkes-Barre athletics to the next level by bringing on an Athletic Trainer who will work with all of our intercollegiate teams on a daily basis.  Mike brings invaluable experience that will be tremendously beneficial to all of our student-athletes.  This truly is a huge step in separating Penn State Wilkes-Barre from the competition when student-athletes are looking at which colleges and universities to play intercollegiate athletics at.  I would like to thank Dr. Davis, Karen Kyle and Kathie Flanagan-Herstek for their help and for sharing my vision for enhancing our Athletic Department."
