Over 250 Penn State students and staff from Penn State University recently gathered at Penn State Behrend in Erie, PA to attend the 2011 Penn State University Summer Leadership Conference.
Seven students from Penn State Wilkes-Barre were chosen to represent the campus during this three day conference, which boasted activities focused around the theme "Penn State Leadership League - Get In The Game." Students attended workshops, lectures and networked with fellow students from the nineteen campuses of the University College and University Park. Student shared experiences and "Best Practices" among the University's campuses.
"While there are many facets of leadership that can be covered, the 2011 conference focused in on civic, personal and organizational leadership," said Jackie Warnick-Piatt, Student Activities Coordinator. "In today's ever changing world, these three key areas will help build well rounded leaders."
The keynote speaker, Joshua Fredenburg, also concentrated on personal and civic leadership through his presentation, aptly themed, "Are you a Leader Prepared to Impact the World?"
As the academic year commences, the students who attended the Summer Leadership Conference will become role models for those on campus as they put into practice what they learned over the summer.
