Thursday, November 3rd, join Chancellor Dr. Charles Davis and the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Continuing Education department for their Executive Management Series at the Best Western Genetti Hotel and Conference Center in Wilkes-Barre, beginning at 7:45a.m.
How do organizations manage their staffing at a time when healthcare costs keep increasing? One answer is that business leaders have become very creative in how to manage getting work done. They rely on dozens of strategies—including outsourcing, offshoring, using part-time workers, using retirees, requiring mandatory overtime, and many other strategies to get the work done. The keynote speaker, Dr. William Rothwell, will explain how finding the right staff to do the right work is the answer.
Dr. Rothwell is Professor of Workforce Education and Development in the Department of Learning and Performance Systems on the University Park campus of The Pennsylvania State University. He leads a graduate emphasis in workplace learning and performance, preparing future graduates for careers in corporate and government employee training. He had 20 years of full-time work experience in human resource management in both government and business before he became a university professor 18 years ago. Best-known for his extensive and high-profile research and consulting work in succession planning and talent management with dozens of organizations in the U.S. and around the world, Rothwell is a frequent speaker and keynoter at conferences and seminars around the world. He has authored, coauthored, edited, or co-edited more than 300 books, book chapters and articles—including 72 books. He gave 70 talks in 10 nations in 2010.
