On Thursday, November 3rd, Chancellor Charles Davis and the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Continuing Education department hosted William Rothwell, Ph.D, SPHR for their Executive Management Series at the Best Western Genetti Hotel and Conference Center.
Dr. Rothwell, no stranger to public speaking - he gave 70 talks in 10 nations in 2010 - spoke on the topic of finding the right staff to do the right work. A Professor of Workforce Education and Development in the Department of Learning and Performance Systems on the University Park campus, Dr. Rothwell's presentation was well received by those in attendance.
"An interesting topic with timely information given the current state of the economy - Bill is an exhilarating speaker who should be brought back for future seminars," raved one attendee. "It could have gone on all day!"
Dr. Rothwell is best known for his extensive and high-profile research and consulting work in succession planning and talent management; he is a frequent speaker or keynoter at conferences and seminars around the world.
"Bill's knowledge on the topic of workforce planning was quite impressive," explained Jane Ashton, Director of Continuing Education. "Our program evaluations were excellent and we plan to invite Bill back to share best practices on topics such as talent management and succession planning and effective technical talent management - both topics in which he has published books. When he spoke, he held everyone's attention - everyone left the Forum energized and with plenty to talk about."
