Baseball Wins Two at Home

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre baseball team won both games of a double-header against PSUAC rival Penn State Worthington Scranton on Saturday afternoon at Hilldale Field. In the first game, Wilkes-Barre defeated Worthington Scranton, 10-2. Leading the way for Wilkes-Barre was freshman Ryan Goodwin, who went 3 for 4 at the plate with a double, a triple and four RBI's. Senior Pete Kelly and freshman Zach Yursha each had two RBI's for Wilkes-Barre, while teammates junior Jason Strohl and sophomore Kyle LeValley each batted in one run. Kelly pitched a complete game with four strikeouts to take the win for Wilkes-Barre. In the second game, Wilkes-Barre took a 3-0 victory over Worthington Scranton. Strohl and LeValley each had a double and an RBI for Wilkes-Barre, while junior Robert Bisson also batted in a run.  Pitcher freshman Robert Vollmer recorded five strikeouts to take the win for Wilkes-Barre, while Goodwin was credited with the save. With the two wins, Wilkes-Barre improves to 6-12 on the season and 6-8 in the PSUAC. Wilkes-Barre next plays at Marywood University on Sunday, April 15th in a double-header starting at 12:00 pm.
