12th Annual Engineering Open House Announced

On Thursday, October 4th, Penn State Wilkes-Barre's engineering department will welcome high school students onto the Lehman campus for its 12th annual Engineering Open House. The Engineering Open House provides students who have an interest in an engineering field an opportunity to not only to hear what Penn State Wilkes-Barre has to offer but actually see what they can do with an engineering degree.

"The Engineering Open House is not your traditional campus tour. Students arrive in the morning and are split into groups for company visits," explains Director of Academic Affairs and Professor of Engineering, Dr. Albert Lozano-Nieto. "The companies selected for visits showcase what different types of engineers do in the real world and how their degree is put to use."

Students will select one from among the following five local engineering firms to visit during this year's Engineering Open House: Architectural and Engineering Group, Borton-Lawson Engineering, Frontier Communications, Quad 3 Group, and Martin & Rogers (which will be conducted on campus). In addition, students interested in surveying will be able to see an on-campus surveying demonstration.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre provides access to a world-renowned university in a smaller, more personal setting. Dedicated staff and teachers have helped students of all ages since the campus' inception in 1916 and continue to provide excellent education and support. Penn State Wilkes-Barre boasts seven Bachelor's degrees, including one engineering and one engineering technology degree, and four Associate's degrees, including one engineering technology degree. In addition, students are able to start one of over 160 degrees at Penn State Wilkes-Barre and complete it at another campus.
