Chancellor Charles Davis is pleased to announce the addition of new faculty & staff members to Penn State Wilkes-Barre for the 2014-2015 academic year.
After four years at the Penn State Wilkes-Barre campus in the Information Technology Services department, Jeff Chiampi has accepted the position of Instructor in Computer Science. Jeff has a Bachelor of Science in Information, Sciences & Technology and a Master of Business Administration, both from Penn State.
Sarah Luvender will be joining Penn State Wilkes-Barre as a shared appointment between Academic Affairs and Student Affairs. In this role, she will be the primary personal counselor for our students, the disability services coordinator, and a professional academic advisor. Sarah has her Master of Social Work from Marywood University, her Bachelor of Social Work from Misericordia University, and is a licensed social worker in Pennsylvania as well as a certified sexual assault counselor. Most recently, Sarah has been a therapist at Family Services Association where she developed a youth anger management program as well as a "Safe Zone" program for LGBTQ teens.
Brian Naberezny has accepted the position of Instructor in Surveying Engineering. Brian has a Bachelor of Science in Surveying Engineering from Penn State and a Master of Science in Spatial Information Science and Engineering from the University of Maine. In addition, Brian is a Professional Land Surveyor in the State of Maine. Brian has been involved in ongoing research activities at the University of Maine and more recently at Wilkes University.
Melisa Naylor joins Penn State Wilkes-Barre as an Instructor in Rehabilitation and Human Services, a new academic offering at the campus. Melisa has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Misericordia University and a Master of Science in Community Counseling from the University of Scranton. Melisa is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Safe Crisis Management Trainer as well as a Qualified Mental Health Expert: Child and Adolescent Therapist. Prior to joining Penn State, she worked at the Children's Service Center in Wilkes-Barre.
Brian Reese is the new Information Technology Specialist at Penn State Wilkes-Barre. Brian has a Bachelor of Science in Information, Sciences & Technology from Penn State. Brian previously worked as a Network Administrator for Luzerne County Government and Keystone Oaks School District. He has been an IT Consultant since 2009 working with businesses, healthcare, and schools.
Tamara (Tammy) Simpson is the new Academic Affairs Administrative Support Assistant. Tammy has a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration from King's College. She has extensive work experience in the healthcare industry having worked for different healthcare organizations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
After having worked for four years at the Commonwealth Medical College, Patricia Staskiel has returned to Penn State Wilkes-Barre as Coordinator of Student Support Services. Patty has a Bachelor of Arts in English and Secondary Education from King's College and a Master of Science in Education from Wilkes University.
