LEHMAN, Pa. — Penn State Wilkes-Barre is providing the community with two ways to donate to this year’s THON event. In addition to Penn State Wilkes-Barre’s annual donor drive, the American Red Cross is hosting a community blood drive benefiting Penn State Wilkes-Barre THON.

The blood drive will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23, in the Dallas Shopping Center. The American Red Cross is donating $4 to Four Diamonds for every participating donor. Penn State Wilkes-Barre aims to raise over $5,000 for the THON 2021 fundraising cycle.

All local and state COVID-19 guidelines will be enforced. To help maintain social-distancing guidelines, appointments are highly recommended. Appointments can be made at this link, using the code 18612.

THON is a student-run event aimed toward enhancing the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer. Supporting Four Diamonds, THON fundraising helps provide emotional and financial support, spread awareness, and ensure the critical research needed to find a cure. In 2020, Penn State raised $ 11,696,942.38 across all of the Commonwealth Campuses.

This year, THON will be held virtually from Feb. 19-21. To donate to Penn State Wilkes-Barre’s drive, visit THON online.
