Being a student at Penn State Wilkes-Barre is more than just taking classes; it also includes getting involved in both co- and extra-curricular learning opportunities. As part of your top-notch education, participate in a student club or organization, attend a varsity sporting event, or stop by the Commons to see a comedian or participate in a game show. It will not only give you the opportunity to meet new people and form life-long friendships, but you will enhance your Penn State experience by learning how to be a team player, sharpening your communication skills, developing networking skills, and just having fun!

The Student Commons is the center of student life. A dining center, activities area, game room, and lounge are here to provide for students a friendly, casual atmosphere for conversation and relaxation. The Campus Bookstore, the Student Activities Office, the Student Government Association Office, and offices for student organizations and clubs are all located in the Commons. Noon-time and evening programs featuring musicians, comedians, diversity events, lectures, workshops and more are held in both the Hickory Court Café and the stage area. Space is also available for club meetings, workshops, or small group gatherings.

The Student Club and Organization Collaboration Suite features a sitting area, high-tech computers, and a conference area at which clubs and organizations can work on group projects, fundraisers, and event planning. Arts and crafts supplies are available for students to use for marketing events and activities. Students can reserve the space by emailing Ethan Krzysik.

The Student Activities Office is dedicated to providing diverse, entertaining, and educational programs and activities for the students, staff, and faculty. Cultural and performing arts events, day and evening programming, and student club and organization activities provide numerous opportunities for students to get involved and to learn outside the traditional classroom setting. Programming to highlight nationally recognized weeks and months, as well as special events, is offered throughout the academic year. Programs are free and open to the community (unless otherwise noted). Recognition programs and Leadership Training programs are also offered through the Student Activities Office.
