The Hayfield Award for Excellence in Service to Campus/Community
This award is given to a Penn State Wilkes-Barre faculty or staff member, a Penn State Wilkes-Barre Advisory Board member, a Penn State alumnus/a, or a Friend of Penn State Wilkes-Barre who has made a significant voluntary and unpaid contribution to the campus or the community beyond the capacity of his or her university-recognized or professional obligations. Such a contribution should demonstrate leadership or extraordinary, active participation. It might include an endeavor that contributes significantly to the well-being of the campus as a whole or to a substantial constituency, such as students or a specific academic program. It might be a contribution that significantly enriches campus or community life in ways that positively further the mission of the Penn State Wilkes-Barre campus.
Eligibility
All full-time or part-time faculty and staff of Penn State Wilkes-Barre; all current or emeritus members of the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Advisory Board; all Penn State Alumni individually or collectively (such as the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Alumni Society and the Wyoming Valley Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Society), and all individual or corporate Friends of Penn State Wilkes-Barre.
Evaluation Criteria
Excellence in Service is judged on the basis of significance and impact to the campus or the mission of the campus within the community.
Criteria for evaluating excellence in service include:
- Significance. The degree to which the service represents a high degree of importance to the priorities of the campus now or that provides for the sustained development of a program with lasting effects.
- Impact. The degree to which the service represents a meaningful gift that raises the level of campus or community life or that has far-reaching effects for the greatest good of the campus as a whole or of a substantial constituency.
- Mission. The degree to which the service fulfills the mission of the campus in a particularly significant and impactful way or that furthers the mission of the campus in the community.
