Women's Basketball Falls To Wilkes

Penn State Wilkes-Barre lost at Wilkes University 50-96 today.  Penn State Wilkes-Barre was led by sophomore Tiaira Brathwaite's second straight double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.   Junior Catherine Beach added 10 points for Wilkes-Barre while senior point guard Renee Fumanti pulled down 12 rebounds.  Wilkes-Barre's next game is Tuesday, November 22 at Centenary College (NJ).

Men's Basketball Splits at Messiah Tournament

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre men's basketball team lost to Messiah College 40-63 on Friday night before turning around and beating Williamson Trade 50-47 the next day.  Freshman Jacob Bronder was named to the All-Tournament Team.  

Bronder Named to Messiah College Tip Off All-Tournament Team

Freshman Jacob Bronder (Pittsburgh, PA) was named to the Messiah College Tip Off Tournament All-Tournament Team on Saturday afternoon.  Bronder's defense and solid decision earned him a spot on the All-Tournament Team.  Bronder finished with 10 points and 6 rebounds in Wilkes-Barre's win over Williamson Trade on Saturday.  Wilkes-Barre lost to Messiah College on Friday night before rebounding to beat Williamson the following day.

Women's Basketball Falls at Home

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre (1-2) women's basketball team lost a close battle to Briarcliffe College (62-54) on Friday night.  Leading the way for Wilkes-Barre was Tiaira Brathwaite with a double-double scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.  Molly Dincher was the team's leading scorer with 14 points while also pulling down 8 rebounds.  Catherine Beach added 13 and Aubrey Wargowsky scored 10 for Wilkes-Barre.  Wilkes-Barre next travels to battle local rival Wilkes University tomorrow afternoon. 

Murtagh and Vowler Honored

Meghan Murtagh and Michele Vowler were both honored today by the USCAA for their achievements off the volleyball court.  Both were named to the USCAA Academic All-American team.  This team consists of all USCAA student-athletes who have achieved over a 3.50 GPA.  Congratulations to both Meghan and Michele.

Men's Basketball Wins Home Opener

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre Men's Basketball team won their home opener 75-58 over Johnson College (0-1) to begin the season 1-0.  Wilkes-Barre was led by Sophomore Keith Johnson who had 13 points.  Senior Matt Clemons added 12 for the Mountain Lions.  Wilkes-Barre forced Johnson to turn the ball over 22 times in the 40 minutes.  Wilkes-Barre's next game is at home next Tuesday at 8:00 pm vs. Lycoming.

Leandri's Run Falls Short

Freshman Alex Leandri finished 27th out of 110 at the USCAA Championships this past Friday in Lake Placid, NY.  Leandri had a tremendous season, winning all four of her PSUAC races, including the PSUAC Individual Women's Cross Country Championship.  "Alex was great to coach this season.  She worked hard and had such a positive attitude.  I look forward to coaching her next season and helping her reach her goal of being named USCAA All-American," said Head Coach Brian Stanchak.
