Penn State Wilkes-Barre is located in Lehman Township, a small community only 10 miles away from downtown Wilkes-Barre. A city with a population of 43,000, Wilkes-Barre is located in northeastern Pennsylvania in the Wyoming Valley on the Susquehanna River.
Wilkes-Barre and the surrounding area have much to offer. Cultural events such as Broadway touring shows, local professional theatre, concerts, museums, fairs, and many other opportunities abound. Just outside the city limits you will find beautiful countryside with rolling hills, rivers, farmland, woodlands, and state parks. Further sources of entertainment include outlet shopping, water parks, amusement parks, harness racing, concerts, and sporting events. In addition, the area has a wide variety of hotel, motel, inn and bed & breakfast accommodations, as well as restaurants for every taste and budget.
If you wish to explore farther afield, Penn State Wilkes-Barre is only two hours from Philadelphia, two and a half hours from New York City and the New Jersey beaches, three hours from Baltimore, and four hours from Washington, D.C.
