This three-day academy offers all K-12 educators across all grade levels and content areas an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in Literacy, specifically writing, and how the standards affect classroom practices. Through an exploration of the CCSS in writing, participants will:
- Learn how to integrate the CCSS through classroom writing in rich and meaningful ways;
- Identify, analyze, and understand the curricular possibilities of the three modes (argument, informative, narrative);
- Learn and develop writing-to-learn techniques across all content areas;
- Design lesson plans for implementing the CCSS within the existing curriculum.
