Mr. Pineno was a clarinet major and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Mansfield University. After graduation, Jonathan studied for four years with Anthony Gigliotti, the first chair clarinetist of the Philadelphia Orchestra. In 1979, Jonathan earned a Master of Music degree in Clarinet Performance from Temple University and began to perform as the principal clarinetist with many of the major NEPA orchestras and bands. Jonathan taught general music, chorus, and band classes for 34 years in the Lake-Lehman school district, where he also directed and produced 20 musicals and plays. After retiring from public school in 2009, he taught private vocal and instrumental lessons and for 6 years and taught online Arts and Humanities classes for the University of Phoenix. For 40 years, Jonathan was an adjunct professor at Misericordia University, where he taught private clarinet lessons, instrumental methods, and facilitated Popular Music and Art History classes. At Penn State Wilkes-Barre, Mr. Pineno currently facilitates Art History, Hip Hop, Popular Music, and Digital and Forensic Photography Classes. He also serves as the director of the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Friedman Art Gallery and is the president of Arts at Hayfield.
