Penn State Wilkes-Barre releases vaccination rates for students, employees

Penn State Wilkes-Barre released vaccination rates as of Sept. 8 for students and employees at the campus. At Penn State Wilkes-Barre, 87% of full-time employees indicated they are fully vaccinated, including 100% of administrators, 89% of academic personnel (instructors, researchers and faculty) and 86% of nonunion staff.

Alumnus honors late wife with gift to Penn State Wilkes-Barre

A Penn State Wilkes-Barre alumnus has created a named space on campus in memory of his late wife. In recognition of a $10,000 gift made by Mark Sobeck, 1976, Room 119F in the Athletic and Recreation Building will be named in remembrance of his wife, Deborah, who died on May 5, 2020.

As Sept. 25 is national “If You See Something, Say Something” Awareness Day and September is National Preparedness Month, Penn State University Police and Public Safety is reminding students, employees and visitors to review the “If you See Something, Say Something” campaign for reporting suspicious activity, sign up for PSUAlert text messages, and familiarize themselves with the University’s official Active Attacker Response Program.

Two new faculty members hired at Penn State Wilkes-Barre

Deyu Pan and Rebecca Sarver have joined the faculty at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, Chancellor Dale Jones announced. Pan has been named assistant professor in rehabilitation and human services (RHS), and Sarver has been hired as assistant teaching professor in criminal justice and criminal justice program coordinator.
