Continuing Education Fall Film and Discussion Series Announced

The Department of Continuing Education at Penn State Wilkes-Barre and co-sponsor The Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce proudly announces the fall personal enrichment film & discussion series schedule. Penn State Wilkes-Barre is partnering with R/C Wilkes-Barre Movies 14 in Downtown Wilkes-Barre to host a film and discussion series exploring Northeast Pennsylvania in Hollywood: The Adventures of Robin Hood, The Best Man, Small Time Crooks, Sneakers, & Miracle of the Bells.

EET Student Presents Project at Poster Symposium

On August 7th, Penn State Wilkes-Barre senior electrical engineering technology student Mike Wright of Dallas participated in the inaugural Penn State Multi-Campus Engineering Research Experience for Undergraduates held at University Park presenting his poster on Simulating Frictionless Bearings.

Continuing Education Offers Conversational Spanish

Beginning Thursday, September 17th and spanning five weeks, Penn State Wilkes-Barre's Continuing Education will be offering Conversational Spanish. Penn State Wilkes-Barre offers courses for those who interact with Spanish-speaking employees in the workplace, and who are seeking basic conversational Spanish skills for use in their day-to-day communications. It is expected that participants will have no Spanish training or limited Spanish education that has been forgotten.

Faculty Awarded Schreyer Institute Grant

Jennie Levine Knies, head librarian at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, and Timothy Sichler, instructor in engineering, Penn State Wilkes-Barre, were recently awarded a $2,037 Teaching Project grant from the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence.

Alumni Golf Tournament Raises More Than $6,000

On Friday, July 10th, The Penn State Wilkes-Barre Alumni Constituent Society hosted its 20th Annual "Masters" Golf Tournament at Blue Ridge Trail Golf Club in Mountaintop. The tournament raised approximately $6,000, used to support a variety of programs for Penn State Wilkes-Barre students including the Student Mentor Program, Academic Excellence Awards, THON, and other student initiatives.
