Summer camps announced at Penn State Wilkes-Barre

Penn State Wilkes-Barre is offering a variety of summer camps for 2023.

DALLAS, Pa. — Penn State Wilkes-Barre’s Office of Continuing Education has announced its summer youth camps for 2023. Two weeks of camp are offered, with Week 1 scheduled for June 26 to 30, and Week 2 planned for July 10 to 14.

Several of the camps are new this year, including the production of Disney's "Mary Poppins Jr."

Camp scholarships are available in limited quantities. For an application, email [email protected]. Scholarships are sponsored by P&G and the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Alumni Society.

Camps for this year are as follows:

Week 1 (June 26-30)

Entering grades 1-3

"Into the Woods: Exploring Local Birds, Trees and Plants" — 9 a.m.–noon, $179

Lil' Lionettes: Dance Camp — 9 a.m.–noon, $169

Arts & Crafts — 9 a.m.–noon, $169

Art-Terrific Summertime Camp — 12:45–3:45 p.m., $169

Arts & Crafts — 12:30–3:30 p.m., $169

Entering grades 2-4

Musical Theatre – Disney's Mary Poppins Jr. — 9 a.m.–noon, $169

This camp is a full day on Friday, June 30, for a 1:30 p.m. performance.

Entering grades 4-6

Drawing a Line through Art — 9 a.m.–noon, $169

Stepping into Color —12:30–3:30 p.m., $169

Entering grades 4-8

Boys' Basketball — 9 a.m.–noon, $119

Girls' Basketball — 12:30–3:30 p.m., $119

Entering grades 4-9

Golf co-ed — 12:30–3:30 p.m., $179

Entering grades 6-8

WISE (Women in Sciences and Engineering) Interdisciplinary Experiences: Sustainability in Science — 12:30–3:30 p.m., $50

This camp is funded in part by a donation from UGI Utilities in support of the University’s efforts to encourage young women to pursue STEM-related programs.

Entering grades 6-12

Supplying Pizza to the World – Career Exploration Camp — 9 a.m.–noon, $169

Entering grades 10-12; recent high school graduates will also be considered

Teen Entrepreneurial Challenge — 9 a.m.–noon, $50

This class features five classes with business mentoring and coaching led by Penn State entrepreneurship educators and local small business leaders. Participants will participate in an in-person “Shark Tank”-style pitch competition on the last day of camp with cash prizes awarded.

Musical Theatre – Disney's Mary Poppins Jr. — 9 a.m.–3:30 p.m., $289

This is a full-day camp culminating with a performance at 1:30 p.m. Friday.

A 10% early bird discount will be given for registrations prior to April 16, excluding $119 sport camps, WISE camps and Teen Entrepreneurial Challenge.

Registrants will receive a confirmation email prior to camp containing details about dropoff, pickup, pre-screening and safety protocols.
