Wilkes-Barre Volleyball Split Quad Meet at Penn State Hazleton

Penn State Wilkes-Barre's Women's Volleyball team played Penn College and Penn State Worthington Scranton on Saturday, September 17th in a quad match that was held at Penn State Hazleton.  It was an intense game between Penn State Wilkes-Barre and Penn College.  They had to do all 5 matches in a best out of 5 situation.  Penn College ended up winning the first two matches 25-22 and 25-22, but Penn State Wilkes-Barre fought back and won the next two matches 26-24 and 25-20.  In the final match Penn College won 15-8.   Penn State Wilkes-Barre's Kellie Yekel (former G

Leandri Wins Penn State Wilkes-Barre Cross Country Invitational

On Saturday, September 17th, the first PSUAC Cross Country meet of the season took place at the Penn State Wilkes-Barre campus.  The big winner for the day was Penn State Wilkes-Barre Freshman Alex Leandri, who won the women's race with a time of 17:24 minutes.  She blew away the competition as the second-place finisher crossed the finish line with a 18:29 minute time (Amber Martin - Worthington Scranton).  Coach Brian Stanchak said after the race "I am so proud of Alex.  She has worked tremendously hard throughout the pre-season and all of that hard work paid off

Wills and Boozer Lead Wilkes-Barre to 2nd Place Finish in Golf

Matt Boozer and Mike Wills each shot an 84 to lead Penn State Wilkes-Barre to a 2nd-place finish at the Penn State Schuylkill Tournament at Mountain Valley Golf Course (Barnesville, PA).  Mark Wasickanin also added an 86 for Wilkes-Barre. Wilkes-Barre's next match will take place on Wednesday, September 21st locally at Irem Temple Country Club (Penn State Wilkes-Barre is the host of this tournament).

Soccer Loses Hard-Fought Battle to Worthington Scranton

After over a week-long layoff, Wilkes-Barre (0-2) fell short, losing to Worthington Scranton 1-3 on Monday.  Wilkes-Barre got off to a 1-0 lead after Freshman Dan Grandinetti scored the first goal of the season for the team. The team put up a tremendous battle, but let Worthington Scranton score two unanswered goals.  Wilkes-Barre's goalie Nick Decker made some great saves and stopped 13 shots total throughout the 90 minutes.  Wilkes-Barre heads to New Kensington for their next PSUAC battle on Saturday, September 17th.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre Alumnus working in Madagascar

Scott Seroskie graduated in 2009 from Penn State Wilkes-Barre with a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology.  After working for Virginia Power Company, his adventures have taken him recently to the exotic location of Tomasina, Madagascar.  There, Scott is working as Control Operations Engineer in a lime plant. While a student at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, Scott was an active member of several campus groups and organizations including SGA and he also worked as a peer tutor for EET courses.

Arts at Hayfield Summer Festival Scheduled

On Sunday, August 28, more than 120 artisans, crafters, musicians, and food vendors will converge on the Penn State Wilkes-Barre campus in Lehman for the 27th Annual Arts at Hayfield Summer Festival from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., rain or shine, on the campus grounds. Featuring a new performing group, the Daisy Jug Band, local and regional performers will take the stage starting at 11:30 a.m.
