Edward Keil

Penn State Wilkes‑Barre’s men’s golf team is led by coach Ed Keil, a graduate of Penn State Wilkes‑Barre and an Air Force veteran. With 38 years of coaching golf at Penn State Wilkes‑Barre, Coach Keil is one of the most successful and longest-tenured head coaches in the school’s history. Keil was inducted into the Penn State Wilkes-Barre’s Athletics Wall of Fame in 2015, was awarded the USCAA Golf Coach of the Year in 2018, and received the PSUAC Robert Scannell Roll of Honor Award in 2025 (the highest athletic award given in the Commonwealth Campus System). His teams have won eight conference championship titles and finished 2nd, 3rd, and 5th in the USCAA National Championship Tournament. Penn State Wilkes‑Barre has also won five prestigious Presidents Cup titles.

Penn State Wilkes‑Barre’s golfers have won four PCAA or PSUAC individual state titles and have had 133 golfers named All‑Conference or All‑State. Penn State Wilkes‑Barre golfers also excel academically, with over 186 being named Academic All‑Conference, and 16 golfers named Academic All‑Americans. Coach Keil’s athletes have gone into various professions, including professional golfing, medicine and the law.

Coach Keil has also conducted youth golf summer camps and ladies’ golf clinics for the campus for many years. An accomplished golfer himself, he is a golf course superintendent with over 35 years as a Class A member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.

Ed resides in Hanover Township with his wife, Gina.
