Penn State Wilkes-Barre will not enroll new students after fall 2025, but current students may continue their 2+2 pathway here through the 2026–2027 academic year. If you’re just starting your Penn State journey, we welcome you to explore the 2+2 program at another campus.
Start here. Finish there.
Some students choose to remain at one campus for all four years, while other students spend their first two years at one campus and transition to University Park or another campus for their remaining two years. The vast majority of the University’s 275+ majors can be completed in this fashion. We call it the 2+2 Plan and it’s the most common path to a Penn State degree — about 60% of Penn State students opt for this path in a typical year. For more information on all available Penn State majors, see the Degree Program Summary.
Getting started at a smaller Penn State campus has many advantages—small classes, a close-knit learning environment, activities, athletics, student organizations, and faculty who are experts in their chosen fields. You get the benefits and resources of a world-class university in a welcoming, comfortable environment. You will work closely with an academic adviser to choose a course of study that will allow you to seamlessly transition to University Park or another campus when you are ready to begin your upper-division (junior- and senior-year) course work.
No matter where you start, no matter where you finish, your degree will be a Penn State degree, one of the most respected in the country.
