A new $20,000 endowed award has been established at Penn State Wilkes-Barre in memory of a northeastern Pennsylvania man who was killed in action in Afghanistan. Family and friends of Pittston, Pennsylvania, native Jeffrey F. DePrimo created the 1st Lt Jeffrey F. DePrimo Military Award to support military students at Penn State Wilkes-Barre.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre has hired three full-time faculty members, Chancellor Lynda Goldstein announced. Adriana Dinescu has been named assistant teaching professor of chemistry; Lori Dunn, previously an adjunct instructor at the campus, has been hired as lecturer in business; and Henrique Oliveira has been named assistant teaching professor of surveying engineering.
Working professionals are able to develop their professional skills through courses offered by Penn State Wilkes-Barre Continuing Education. The classes and training have been specifically chosen and designed in response to local industry requirements.
Molly Abdalla has been hired as student engagement and outreach librarian at Penn State Wilkes-Barre and Penn State Scranton. In her role, she will engage and collaborate with faculty, staff and students to use current and emerging technologies for learning and research.
