Penn State Wilkes-Barre's Kellie Yekel has been named PSUAC Volleyball Player of the Week. Kellie, a sophomore, plays outside hitter and had 97 kills in five matches. Wilkes-Barre was 5-0 in that span.

Freshman Alex Leandri is off to a fast start, winning her second straight PSUAC Cross Country meet on Saturday afternoon. She finished with a time of 21:36 to win the PSUAC Mont Alto Cross Country Invitational. The second-place runner finished 1 minute 43 seconds behind Alex on the challenging 5K race course. Leandri's next race is in two weeks (Saturday, October 15th) at the PSUAC Lehigh Valley Cross Country Invitational.
Wilkes-Barre Women's Volleyball scored a 3-0 victory over Penn State York and Penn State Mont Alto to advance their record to now 6-1. The scores of the York sets were 25-8, 25-18, and 25-11; the scores of the Mont Alto sets were 25-23, 25-21, and 25-17. Michele Vowler totaled 21 digs and 24 kills for the day. Meghan Murtagh contributed 27 service points and 43 assists. Kellie Yekel added 38 kills. They have two games tomorrow starting at noon at the Penn State Schuylkill campus. Wilkes-Barre's women's volleyball team won their second game in a row at home in straight sets defeating Penn State Worthington Scranton 25-15, 25-14 and 25-17. During their two-game home stand, the ladies won six straight sets. Wilkes-Barre travels to Mont Alto on Saturday (October 1st) for a quad meet vs. Penn State York and Penn State Mont Alto.
