Welcome (back) to Penn State Wilkes-Barre! While the University is still adjusting to the COVID-19 public health emergency, we understand and believe that a true college experience is reliant upon students being able to engage in social activities with their peers and others outside of the classroom setting. We will be offering a diverse range of events throughout the semester. Though the majority of our campus activities will be held virtually, when possible we will provide in-person programming for small groups of students who sign up in advance.
Welcome Week activities create opportunities for students to interact in small groups with their peers in a safe and responsible environment. Below is a list of virtual and in-person Welcome Week events for new and returning students.

Masks, Mugs, and Mug Shots
Pick up your two free Penn State masks and your Student Government Association-sponsored travel mug. While you’re there, take a selfie at our Lion Shrine!
When: Monday and Tuesday, August 24 and 25, 10:00 am–1:30 pm
Where: In person, at the Lion Shrine
Note: If you are unable to attend, you can pick up your masks in the Police and Public Safety office in Hayfield House weekdays 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. starting Wednesday, August 26 through Friday, September 4.

Student Town Hall Meeting
All students are invited to join Dr. Dale Jones, Chancellor of Penn State Wilkes-Barre, for a Student Town Hall. He will be joined by Wanda Ochei, Director of Student Services and Dr. Lynda Goldstein, Associate Chief Academic Officer. At this meeting you will learn more about Penn State developments concerning COVID-19, instructional/classroom support, campus expectations of students, and other important information. You will also be able to ask questions to all the presenters and share any student concerns.
So, come join your peers and be a part of this discussion with key campus administrators!
