Wilkes-Barre Improves to 3-0 by Defeating SUNY-ESF

Carey Earns All-American Honors at USCAAs

Freshman Jason Carey finished third overall to earn USCAA All-American honors at the USCAA Cross Country National Championships. In the women's race, sophomore Emily Pszeneczny finished 43rd overall with a time of 27:28, while freshman Azalee McAlpine finished 102nd overall with a time of 31:08. 145 total runners competed in the women's 6K race. In the men's race, Carey finished third overall in the 8K race with a time of 27:45. The men's team finished eighth overall out of 19 total teams.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre's Women's Basketball Falls To Davis College

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre (0-1) Women's Basketball team lost to Davis College on Tuesday night, falling 68-60. The Mountain Lions were strong all game, keeping within ten points of Davis; unfortunately, they couldn't find eight points in the end.  Freshman Brenna Moore led the team with nineteen points, six rebounds, three steals and three assists, while freshman Kian Wright and senior Tiaira Brathwaite had double-doubles.

Wilkes-Barre Women's Basketball Defeats LCCC

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women's basketball team won its away game against Luzerne County Community College 60-25, moving their record to 1-1 overall. Freshman Kian Wright had a double-double, with foureen points and sixteen rebounds. Helping defensively, senior Tiaira Brathwaite pulled down sixteen rebounds. Sophomore Jalicia Robinson had fourteen points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Penn State Wilkes-Barre will next travel to Centenary College for their tip-off on Friday, November 15th, at 6:00 pm.

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre men's basketball team traveled to Luzerne County Community College on Thursday evening, defeating LCCC 80-60 and moving their record to 2-0 overall. Senior Denzel Mensah had seventeen points, eight rebounds, and two steals. Freshman Emmanuel Young had a strong game, bringing down eleven rebounds; junior Kenneth Randall added twelve. The Mountain Lions will next host SUNY-ESF on Sunday at 1:00 pm.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre Men's Basketball Defeats Johnson College

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre (1-0) Men's Basketball team defeated Johnson College in their season and home opener on Tuesday night. The Mountain Lions came out strong, defeating Johnson College 67-49. Junior Kenneth Randall finished with sixteen points and six rebounds, and added defensively with two blocks and two steals. Junior Denzel Mensah had a double-double, with thirteen points, ten rebounds and three assists.

Bugelholl and Whited Named PSUAC Soccer All-Conference

The PSUAC announced today that junior Mark Bugelholl and freshman Eric Whited have been named to the PSUAC All-Conference Second Team. Bugelholl led the team with eight goals this season, while Whited had a stellar first season by adding seven goals.

PSU Wilkes-Barre Men's Basketball 2013-14 Season Preview

The Mountain Lions return six players from last season's team. Seniors Greg Cooper and Keith Johnson will be looked to for their leadership and energy. With 20 more rebounds, Johnson will be the second player in school history with 200 rebounds, 200 assists, 100 steals and 500 career points. Juniors Drew Walker, Breyan Jones, William Dankwah and Denzel Mensah also bring lots of experience to the lineup.

Women's Basketball Team Preview

The Lady Mountain Lions, under the leadership of new head coach Ron Strothers, have been preparing for the 2013-14 season. Strothers says, "This year's team is young with five freshmen on the squad. The team has been working hard so far and I am happy with their effort, we also return several upperclassmen that will be relied upon for leadership."
